Who We Are

Fostering growth, innovation, and leadership.

The Economics and Management Students Association (EMSA) is the premier student body at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), dedicated to enhancing the academic and professional development of students within the Faculty of Integrated Management Science.

We bridge classroom learning with real-world application through workshops, seminars, industry visits, and networking opportunities, preparing our members for leadership in economics, finance, logistics, and management.

Our Story

From a founding committee to a campus-defining association

A short timeline of how EMSA was formed and the boards that have led it.

  1. July 2023

    EMSA is founded

A committee of 20 students (10 from Logistics, 10 from Economics) and four lecturer patrons draft the constitution. With HOD Dr. Kamasa, the association is formally established.

  2. 28 Aug 2023

    First executive elections

EMSA elects its first executive board, kicking off the Benjamin–Joseph led administration.

  3. 12 Jul 2024

    Inauguration

The first administration is inaugurated by Dr. Abdul Samed Muntaka of KNUST, with the support of Faculty Dean Prof. Cecilia Addae. EMSA quickly becomes one of the most talked-about associations on campus.

  4. August 2024

    Second administration

The Gyansah–Fosu led board takes office after peaceful elections, going on to collaborate with PESA and co-host an educational summit with the Chartered Institute of Logistics.

  5. Today

    The Kingsley–Josiah Led Administration

EMSA's third executive board is the current administration, building on the standards set by the boards before it.
